It's Carmine or the Highway
The beginning of the week was about who killed Carmine. Who actually cared? What? No one? Same here. I didn't care. It's always boring when you know they didn't do it and are saying they did. I think that this telling of the class whodunit is very stale. It's been played out for a long time. So I really didn't care about how honorable Michael was being. I really haven't cared about this storyline anyway so maybe it's just me.![]() |
Watch as a bore you with a storyline no one cares about. |

At least one actor under 30 can act. |

They actually remembered something that happened over 6 months ago! |
Nikki Talks to her Non Red Herring Son
So Nikki finally found out the truth. Well she knows that her son is alive. I don't remember if she knows if he is a soldier. I think so because she thinks that it's Dylan. It's probably bad that I've forgotten so soon and this happened last week.Nikki didn't blame him for the end of Avery and Nick. She certainly blamed Avery for it. Look at that, Nikki is already having double standards towards Dylan.

That's right Nick and Dylan are not to blame at all for this. |
Tyler and Abby Were on for Five Minutes!
It was a blink and you missed it couple of scenes. Pretty much they admitted that they did have feelings for each other and it wasn't a horrible thing. I almost thought that Tyler would rather have his arm chopped off than have Abby say she loved him. They decided that it didn't mean that they were to stop what they were doing. So they had sex.
These Writers Must Think We're Dumb
Who wasn't really annoyed at the two stereotypical moves that happened this week in regards to the Sharon Nick stuff? The first was that Phyllis squeezed Jack's hand. We all knew it was involuntary. Michelle Stafford has her very awesome web show. She's not coming back. A recast would never work. It would be Sabine Singh levels. It would be a disaster. You cannot think that we saw through that. Maybe that was the point because it led to Sharon thinking it was all over for her.She spoke to hallucination!Cassie when she realized that she had to tell the truth before Phyllis did. All I kept thinking was that as long as no one knocked on the door or a phone went off we would be good. Sharon would admit the truth. So of course a phone goes off. Nick's where he finds out from Jack that Phyllis isn't going to wake up.
So of course Sharon had to explain what that lead in to the truth meant. So she instead told Nick that she was still in love with him and hated that he was with Avery. She also said that she pretty much threw a party when it was over between him. Nick was not a douche at all. I could stand him! He was actually supportive when she said that she wasn't taking her pills. Yeah she admitted that! Not the other important point. You know the whole Summer thing. I'm assuming that with that horrible storyline that is going to take up November that we will have to wait until February or May or even a year for the truth to come out.
Does Jill Farren Phelps Torture Small Animals?
This is an honest question. Seriously. Okay maybe I'm being a little too hard on her. You wouldn't say that about the executive producer of The Sopranos right? How about any dark gritty drama? They are obviously not bad people. They just write really dark stuff. Of course shows like The Sopranos are known to be dark. In fact it's expected. Also The Sopranos was on HBO. So they had more of a free reign to go there.
The Young and the Restless is a soap opera with a fan base that is predominately female. Women don't want to see that. At least I don't and I'm a woman. I want to see love and romance and yay and happiness. If there is violence at the sadistic level of what happened this week then it needs to be rare.
I really don't see how killing a child is entertaining. I don't know how it can be explained that this is an ok storyline. How? Because I don't know one person who is entertained by this. The whole excuse that it happens in real life and soaps are supposed to portray real life is not working for me. I watch Coronation Street which is more gritty and realistic in one episode than a week of all American soaps combined. Yet they haven't killed a child. So no I'm not going to say that this is in any way alright.
There are some storylines that you either not tell or tell in a very tactful and respectful manner. Unfortunately it has been a theme in the past decade or two to tell a story for shock value and for ratings. This is what this is. Killing a child, especially one from a core family is messed up. I know they are going with this will be felt for years crap but that's not true.

I'm the town scapegoat. |
The only positive, if there could ever be on, is that Billy Miller will blow us away with his performance. I'm sure that he will get an Emmy or at least be nominated for that. I don't think this is the way to do it. I did like the fantasy episode as it was nice to see the relationship between Billy and Delia through the years. Knowing that she was going to die made it very sad.
I should note that the only time that I know of this succeeding was when B.J. died and her heart went to Maxi in 1994. It was great because it was authentic. B.J. died in a bus accident, she was not run over on a dark street. It wasn't about that. It was just real. It was not about getting 2 ratings points in the 18-49 demographic. It was a simple story of a sick girl who got to live because her cousin died.
Yay Things for The Week
This week basically sucked. To find even one thing was monumental. I found two! So yay! Besides the child killing and stalker killing other stuff happened. Here are two scenes/characters that I enjoyed.![]() |
We're just that awesome. |
![]() |
They're the Dan Connors of Y&R! |
The second yay thing is Christine. I love vets and characters over 40. So having her on was great. It's nice to see them talking about Ricky and acting like a married couple. I wish they would give both Paul and Christine a storyline. I also love that she didn't get insanely jealous when she saw Nikki in Paul's office. How annoying is it when a spouse gets jealous when an ex with talking with their spouse? Pathetic I say!
Coming Up
Obviously Delia dies. There's some weird song being played in the background that makes the single sound like he's having some type of fit. The dude can't sing! Next week will be Delia dying and everyone finding out and reacting. So pretty much it's going to suck but we will get some Emmy winning scenes from everyone. Maybe even Amelia Heinle. Who would have thought that?![]() |
I actually cried through this promo! |
